Emily Bunchman is a sophomore this year at Conifer High School. Emily was a newspaper reporter for CHSToday last year, publishing 10 stories. She is an honor-roll student. She is on JV volleyball and the Varsity lacrosse team. Outside of school she plays club volleyball for Denver Juniors and participates in flag football. She enjoys being outdoors and traveling the world.

Emerson Brooks poses on the baseball field in her West Jefferson jersey and glove. West Jefferson Baseball was founded in 1984 and has had around 5,000+ players through its program. This competitive program is meant for girls and boys ages 8-14 and is where many Conifer players start their baseball careers. Brooks is the first female on the Conifer High School Baseball team and played on this league growing up. “One thing my mom tells me is that if anyone ever looks at you weird for what you’re doing, remember that you're accomplishing your goals and it shows your confidence,” Brooks said. On October 15, FCA hosted its second meeting. After their mini-lesson and snacks, the leadership team split the club into two groups. They played several activities, such as “Disciple, Disciple, Jesus”, which was their spin-off of “Duck, Duck, Goose”. After, the groups discussed how it related to their faith. “I think it means how when you’re chasing after other things in life such as relationships, or school or whatever you think would make your life perfect, it can make you almost forget about your faith, but to always go back to it,” junior Jack VanAirsdale said.

Senior Mason Murphy fist-bumps the referee during the varsity scrimmage against Palmer Ridge High School on August 22nd. Coach Matthew Steinfeltt used this opportunity with his team to practice their plays and prepare for their upcoming season. “After the scrimmage against Palmer Ridge, I’m confident in the upcoming season. I think we are already improving and might even make playoffs this year,” senior Teddy Arnold said.

After interviewing and writing their story, students will turn their stories into their Section Editors or Editor in Chief, who will give feedback and edits on their stories. After they edit their stories, students will check their edits and resubmit and editors will post their stories.

Boone’s song highlights his Christian values and fears of losing what he’s been given. “Beautiful Things” reflects on the meaning of life and Boone’s point of view. “I found my mind, I’m feelin’ sane, It’s been a while, but I’m finding my faith,” Boone said in his song. Peer counselors have printed multiple flyers and posters to remind people to sign up for Peace Day and to show the opportunities the event offers. This poster is located in the lobby of Conifer High School for students to see. Other posters have barcodes for the students to scan on their phones to sign up for food trucks and speakers on Peace Day.
