Conifer’s Lobos took on Golden’s Demons on Wednesday, February 17th at Conifer High.

The Conifer girl’s basketball team has been working hard this season and hopes to continue improving. Every game to them is an opportunity for improvement and it shows.

“Although we lost we are really coming together as a team and learning a lot,” sophomore player Madelynn Sinnet said. “Also, we are starting to just have fun and play for our teammates.”

There is a new coaching staff this season and the team feels this is helping them a lot. The team feels they have more unity because of head coach Pete Cambell.

“This year we have a fantastic new coaching staff that is teaching us so much,” Sinnet said. “Our team is really learning and retaining information, and like I said we are having a lot of fun. “

The team has been improving on team building and a strong defense. With every game, they are getting closer to a win.

“We are improving every day,” Junior player Anastasia Satchell said. “This game, though the score may not reflect it to some, was one of our best.”

The final score was 62-26 giving Golden the win. Conifer still feels this game was an improvement from the last and that they will continue to improve from what they learn every game. Practice makes perfect, and the girl’s basketball team is a perfect example of this.

“The team has been working really hard on getting our culture right this year,” sophomore player Maya Dawson said. “We have an amazing coaching team who push us hard but also know how to laugh with us and pick us up when we are feeling low. We are well aware that this year is more about building the team than winning championships, but for right now that’s enough. The team really leaves it all on the court and I couldn’t be happier.”
