Conifer Boys Basketball takes on Alameda.

Conifer Lobos boys basketball faced Alameda High School on Tuesday, February 18, at Conifer High School.

This game was very important for the boys team, because it determined whether or not the boys will be playing in the state tournament. The boys took the win with the score of 78-21.

“I personally feel good about heading into this last tournament game,” Landon Wallace, a senior player, said. “I think we’re heading into the right direction and are continuing to get better as a team as games progress.”

The next game for the boy’s basketball will be on Friday, February 21, at Conifer. Starting the third round is Englewood vs. Weld at 5:30. Then, at 7:00, Conifer will go against Fort Lupton.

“As long as we keep playing our game, we will gain momentum heading into the state tournament.” Wallace said.

Conifers track team has been forced to practice indoors due to snowy and icy conditions. Players affected with the restricted space and limited practices. “The coaches push me forward and in track they want me to do my best,” Adam Wilton.

The rugby players practice rucking to prepare for in-game situations. Rucking is when players from both teams try to retrieve the ball after someone is tackled with the ball. ”I think its going really well. We have a lot of new players, but theyre learning really fast. And were getting new people every week that seem to enjoy it, rugby coach Fred Lehman said.

Conifer high schools physical therapy room where athletes come to get an injury checked out. “I sprained my ankle and I did a lot of rehab with CJ along with at my house, making sure I stayed off my ankle,” freshman Monica Zoldowski said.

The View From The Bench

They were playing away against Wheat Ridge, their sixth game of the 2022-2023 season. “Just an amazing group of young men and women up here at Conifer High School and I’ve been very fortunate to coach and teach some amazing people and keep those friendships and relationships alive even after they graduate,” Shipley said.
