The Conifer Lobos girls basketball team took on the Green Mountain Rams on Tuesday, December 3, at Conifer High School.

This was the first game for the season and the team started off strong keeping the scores close in the first half of the game.

“We started out strong, but we just got back from Thanksgiving break, and with nobody being at practice, we just lost our steam,” senior varsity player, Sierra Hayes  said.

Unfortunately, the team’s lack of steam began to show and the Rams began to get ahead with points in the second half of the game. However, the Lobos still pushed through.

“I think we didn’t condition well enough to really keep up to the pace we were setting, because we set a really fast pace in the beginning but we couldn’t keep it up,” junior varsity player, Emma Mead said.

Although the Lobos lost, the team still stayed positive. Everyone has their own goals for the season and for the team.

“Hopefully we just get in shape and go over plays more and more because we were kind of just playing ball, not really as a team, just kind of out there,” Hayes said.

The team is looking forward to the rest of their season. The Lobos have their next home game on Monday, December 16, against D’Evelyn.

“I’m looking forward to playing with the players and really working together,” Mead said.
