Marching Band Ends Year in 9th Place

The Lobos Marching Band ended the year in 9th place, raising 1 place and 5 points in just two weeks. They didn’t have a field to practice on and only had a few rehearsals due to snow. Last year, the band got 8th place, but had a lower score. The band has high hopes for next year.

Conifer Takes on the Slopes

A judge (Zach Brennan) oversees the court and attempts to keep the practice trial on track while the witness delivers her statement. The tournament trial will be held in front of a real Jefferson County judge and teams will be judged on presentation, knowledge, improvisation, and logic. Though the Conifer team is not alone in training for the event, as the team has several lawyers helping them with court procedures and arguments. “We’ve got another parent who is helping out with logistics and getting everybody organized as well,” Benish said.

The Court Is Now In Session

On October 15, FCA hosted its second meeting. After their mini-lesson and snacks, the leadership team split the club into two groups. They played several activities, such as “Disciple, Disciple, Jesus”, which was their spin-off of “Duck, Duck, Goose”. After, the groups discussed how it related to their faith. “I think it means how when you’re chasing after other things in life such as relationships, or school or whatever you think would make your life perfect, it can make you almost forget about your faith, but to always go back to it,” junior Jack VanAirsdale said.

They ran laps around the field about 5 times before going back to individual warmups. “I feel we’ll perform well,” Freshman Aaron Drake stated, “We haven’t been performing that good recently. Hopefully we will step it up for this game.”

Rival Against Rival

The Conifer Lobo’s L4 Volleyball team celebrating their win against Little High School. After all 3 sets of the game, they felt the energy from the win and showed their passion for the game. “I feel pretty good about [our record].” Freshman Victoria Stewart said, “We’re doing pretty good.”

L4 Volleyball on the Rise

Alongside the new head coach Matthew Steinfeltt and JV/L3 coach Adrian Rico, the freshman team was built to give newer players playing time and learn more about football, before playing in JV and Varsity games. “This was the time we got to play as a team when we definitely have work to but we did good and our team chemistry was great,” sophomore Will Hood said.

More Reps, Better Team

Conifer’s football team is helping West Jefferson Middle School kids learn how to lift weights safely and correctly. Through this program, the kids can pick up safety and proper lifting skills from the high school students. "I think helping them improve a lot since they are starting at a young age,” sophomore Jack Van Airsdale said.
