Clagetts dress prominently shows scales, which are sewn together in a long and arduous process. She uses recycled materials in part because of the cost of the materials as well as the style and uniqueness of the clothing that is created from using so-called “trash”.

“Sometimes I’ll just put the outfit on a mannequin and decide, okay, we’re gonna go stick this in the woods and take pictures of it,” Clagett said. She shares her finished dresses on Instagram, along with design concepts and other art.
