Colorado Metalcore band, ClockTower Ritual, played at the Black Sky Brewery for the Great American Beer Festival afterparty on Saturday, October 12th.
ClockTower formed this year in January, with members consisting of Chase Ocean on vocals, Shawn Gonzales and Eddie Pearlman on guitars, Christopher Reser on drums, and Ibruse Hoppe on bass.
With the band’s first single “Set Fire” released on June 20th, they’ve played shows opening for widely known local bands such as “Sin on Six”, “Orna”, “Born to Suffer” and many more.
For this show, Reser was unable to attend, leaving National touring artist Dennis Schaudt from “Bleed the Vain” to fill in on the drums. Dennis has played for bands such as “Bound by Years”, “The WestCoastless Crew”, “Blud Klot”, “Zombie Hate Brigade”, and plenty more since graduating James Madison High School .
Dennis is known through the Black Sky Brewery by his old collective “Zombie Hate Brigade”. The band played in the brewery so much that the owner made a beer based off the old band named the “Toxic Zombie Pale Ale”.
Within the 2 singles the band has released, they build the message about falling victim to someone else’s decisions, along with their perspective of world wide issues that regular people can’t fix. Chase was a part of Bound By Years with Dennis and Shawn and the band spoke a lot about the same topics that ClockTower is speaking about now. In one of Bound By Years old releases “Cycles of Fate”, it touches on the sensitive subject of Lies and Revealing the Truth. “The lies you create slowly suffocate, there’s no escape, crushed by the Cycles of Fate.”
Although the band is just starting, the opportunities they’ve received are bigger than ever. ClockTower has gotten airplay over radio 94.3 KILO and played at brew bashes with larger bands like “Van Zeppelin” and “Adolla”.
In the way that ClockTower is moving in the Colorado Music Scene, they have the potential to go big. The opportunities they’ve seen within a little amount of time shows how any artist can grow to be where they are now. ClockTower Ritual is a mirror to old band Bound By Years, showing how the music from these musicians is still the same, even in new projects.
Overall, the band is headed in the right direction and making moves in the scene that some people never get to experience in life. The countless hours of practice the band has put in with different members paid off in the end, when making little to no mistakes while performing. The ClockTower Ritual has the momentum to be one of Colorado’s best metalcore bands.
