The Leafers are Coming
As colors start to change traffic increases on highway 285
It’s that time of year again. Fall is near, the trees are changing colors, and people are starting to flood into the mountains to see the beauty that they get to see everyday. Be prepared for longer rides home from school and a packed 285 over the next few weekends due to campers headed up to see the leaves change as fall sets in and snow dumps. There are many places that people go to see the view. Some of these places are Guanella Pass Scenic Byway, Staunton State Park, Kenosha Park, and State Forest State Park. People go to these places mostly during the weekend because it’s usually busy during the week.
This year has already seen too many accidents and fatalities on the mountain highway. Extra time and extra patience will be required to be safe this fall season.
