NICA/COHSCL Race #3 Leadville Cloud City Challenge Press Release and Results

Colorado Mountain College in Leadville, CO- Elevation 10,152 feet hosted the NICA/Colorado High School Cycling League South Conference Race #3 Cloud City Challenge with over 500 racers in attendance for the SOUTH CONFERENCE, competition was high! The race course was fast and challenging with the 120 freshmen riders racing 2 laps, 121 sophomores riders racing 2 laps, 143 JV riders racing 3 laps, and 42 Varsity riders racing 4 laps- each lap being 6.3 miles each. Conifer Lobos should be proud of the team overall result of 17^th out of 31 teams.

Boys Lacrosse; Tearing Up The Turf

The rugby players practice rucking to prepare for in-game situations. Rucking is when players from both teams try to retrieve the ball after someone is tackled with the ball. ”I think its going really well. We have a lot of new players, but theyre learning really fast. And were getting new people every week that seem to enjoy it, rugby coach Fred Lehman said.

Playing Hard, Hitting Harder

Conifer high schools physical therapy room where athletes come to get an injury checked out. “I sprained my ankle and I did a lot of rehab with CJ along with at my house, making sure I stayed off my ankle,” freshman Monica Zoldowski said.

The View From The Bench

Head football coach Jonathan Shipley gives a halftime pep talk to the Varsity team. They were playing away against Wheat Ridge, their sixth game of the 2022-2023 season. “Just an amazing group of young men and women up here at Conifer High School and I’ve been very fortunate to coach and teach some amazing people and keep those friendships and relationships alive even after they graduate,” Shipley said.
