Conifer Student Wins Comic Con Competition

The Bat Signal is flashing and students are gearing up to get ready for the next upcoming convention: Comic Con. Costumes are being sewn, fake weapons are being constructed, and Comic fans are waiting excitedly for the Denver Convention Center doors to open.

Students at Warren Tech were offered the chance to enter a comic-competition. The prize was winning two free adult passes to Comic Con by designing a poster. Junior Ian Dahlen Flor tried his hand at designing for this competition, and won.

“For the competition, we had to have a theme for our poster,” said Dahlen Flor. “They gave us a list of things we could choose from, and bullying really stuck out to me. In high school, bullying is something that everyone goes through in some way, shape, or form, so I thought, ‘What better way to show that than saying even heroes need help up’?”

The designed entry depicts a civilian helping The Flash stand after he’s fallen down, with bright yellow lettering that says, “Even heroes need help up.”

Dahlen Flor’s design will be displayed during the event, for all to see and absorb the important message it portrays.

“Winning definitely helped me feel accomplished, because it boosted my self esteem to design more,” said Dahlen Flor.
